Firework Laws Across Kansas

The Kansas State Fire Marshal does not regulate when consumer fireworks can be discharged. This is left up to local authorities.

DISCLAIMER: The following is a list of fireworks rules and regulations for fireworks throughout some cities and counties in Kansas, based on information found in 2018. Rules and Laws change over time. Kansas Pyro will not be held responsible for the breaking of laws based on information from the chart below.

Andover

Fireworks are allowed from June 27th through July 5th. No shooting on public property. Discharge times are subject to change on a year-to-year basis.

Atchison

 

The use, position, and sale of Fireworks is prohibited.

Poppers, snakes, sparklers, and smoke devices are allowed.

Barton County

 

 

You can shoot Fireworks on the 4th of July from 8:00am-12:00am (midnight)

Bonner Springs

 

 

Fireworks are legal July 3rd and 4th from 9:00am-11:00pm 

Concordia

The sale of fireworks is legal from June 27th through July 4th.

You may discharge fireworks July1st-4th except on the following streets: 5th, 6th, 7th, Broadway, State, Lincoln, and Washington.

Derby

Fireworks may be sold and shot from June 27th through July 5th. No shooting on public property. Sky lanterns are illegal.

Desoto

 

Fireworks are legal to shoot from July 2nd through July 4th.

Garden City

 

 

Fireworks may be discharged June 27th through July 5th from 10:30am to 10:30pm

Geary County

 

 

Fireworks are legal June 27th through July 5th.

Goodland

 

Roman candles, novelty items, firecrackers, sparklers, and helicopter type rockets are allowed July 3rd and 4th from 10:00am through 10:00pm.

Great Bend

 

 

You may only shoot fireworks on July 4th from 10:00am through 12:00 midnight.

Harvey County

 

 

You can shoot fireworks July 1st through July 4th from 8:00am through 12:00am.

Hays

 

 

Fireworks are legal to discharge and sell July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Hutchinson

Safe and Sane Fireworks only. Fireworks that shoot more than 6 feet  in any direction are prohibited.

Independence

Fireworks can be sold June 27th through July 5th, and they can be shot July 1st through 4th.

Iola

 

Fireworks are legal from 9:00am June 27th through 5:00pm on July 5th.

Roman candles, rockets, and mortars are prohibited.

Johnson County

 

 

Fireworks are illegal to possess, sell, and discharge without a permit.

Junction CIty

Fireworks are legal to shoot from June 27th through July 5th.

Kansas City

 

Fireworks are legal, with the exception of sky lanterns, rockets, and missiles, to sell from June 29th through July 4th. You may shoot from July 2nd through the 4th from 9:00am through 11:00pm.

Lawrence

 

Small fountains, novelty items, snakes, poppers, sky lanterns, and smoke devices are allowed July 1st through 4th. All other fireworks are prohibited inside of city limits.

Lansing

Fireworks are allowed July 2nd through the 4th.

July 2nd and 3rd     12:00pm-10:00pm

July 4th                   12:00pm-11:00pm

Leavenworth

 

Bottle poppers, smoke devices, snakes, and paper snaps are allowed. all other fireworks are prohibited.

Leavenworth County

 

You may discharge fireworks whenever you want. Sales are permitted June 27th through July5th.

Lenexa

 

Sparklers, smoke devices, and poppers are allowed. All other fireworks are prohibited.

Liberal

You may shoot fireworks from June 27th through July 4th on private property.

Manhattan

 

Fireworks are allowed from July 1st through July 4th from 8:00am until midnight. Sky lanterns are prohibited.

Mcpherson

Fireworks are legal from July 2nd through July 4th. Sky lanterns, bottle rockets, or metal sparklers.

Fireworks are allowed from June 30th through July 4th. Sales end at 8:00pm on the 4th.

Parsons

Sedwick County

 

 

You may shoot off fireworks from July 1st through the 4th.

Seward County

 

 

Fireworks are prohibited.

Shawnee County

 

Fireworks are allowed from June 27th through July 5th from 8:00am to midnight.

Sheridan County

Fireworks are legal on Memorial Day weekend, Flag Day, July 1st through 7th, and New Years.

New Years: 6:00am-2:00am

All other days: 6:00am-11:30pm.

Spring Hill

Fireworks are legal to sell from June 27th through July 5th. Fireworks are legal to shoot on private property from July 1st through the 4th.

Sales: 8:00am-10:00pm

Shoot: 8:00am-11:00pm

Tonganoxie

 

Fireworks are legal from June 30th through July 4th from 8:00am until 11:00pm.

Topeka

Fireworks are allowed to be discharged on July 3rd and 4th. Fireworks can be sold from June 29th through July 4th.

Wichita

 

Fireworks that don't shoot higher than 6 feet in the air are allowed June 27th through July 5th, from 10:00am until midnight.
